India hosts BRICS summit as Iran launches 30 drones at Israeli air base in Negev

India is hosting the BRICS summit on September 10, 2026, in New Delhi. The summit is taking place amid the ongoing Iran war, which has seen Iran launch 30 drones at an Israeli air base in Negev. The attack has raised concerns about the potential for broader conflict in the region. The BRICS bloc, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is under pressure to demonstrate unity amid the escalating tensions. While the summit aims to address economic and strategic cooperation, the backdrop of the Iran war has shifted the focus to regional security and diplomatic coordination. Tehran has accused Israel of escalating hostilities, while Washington has called for restraint and de-escalation. The event highlights the complex interplay between global alliances and regional conflicts. The BRICS summit will likely address the impact of the Iran war on economic cooperation and collective security, with all five members expected to voice their positions on the evolving situation.
