Pakistan, Jordan, Mauritania, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia Condemn Houthi Attacks on Saudi Cities

Yemen's Houthis launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabian cities, including Riyadh and Jeddah, on September 8, 2026. The attacks, which occurred in the early morning, resulted in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. Saudi Arabia's state media reported that the strikes were part of an ongoing campaign against Saudi military and economic targets. Pakistan, Jordan, Mauritania, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia all issued formal condemnations of the Houthi attacks through their respective state media and diplomatic channels. The Saudi Press Agency reported that the attacks were 'a clear violation of international law' and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Jordan's state news agency and the Jordan Times both reiterated the need for a political solution to the conflict. The Houthi group, which is backed by Iran, has been engaged in a prolonged conflict with Saudi Arabia and its allies since 2015. The attacks on September 8 are part of a broader pattern of violence that has drawn international condemnation and raised concerns about regional security.
