Pakistan's Military Spokesperson Vows to Defend Saudi Arabia Amid Houthi Escalation

On September 18, 2026, Pakistan's military spokesperson, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, issued a statement affirming Pakistan's commitment to defend Saudi Arabia. The declaration followed a significant escalation of hostilities between pro-Iranian Yemeni Houthis and Saudi Arabia's military operations in Yemen. The Houthis, backed by Iran, have been intensifying attacks on Saudi territory, prompting regional allies to consider stronger responses. The statement by Chaudhry was reported by multiple outlets, including the Slovenian Press Agency and Dnevnik, both citing the French news agency AFP. The sources consistently describe the context as a worsening conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, with Pakistan positioning itself as a potential military ally to Saudi Arabia. No significant divergences were noted between the sources. The immediate consequence of this statement is likely increased diplomatic and military coordination between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with potential implications for regional stability and international relations.
